결정적인 순간
 
“그가 에스더의 말을 모르드개에게 전하매 모르드개가 그를 시켜 에스더에게 회답하되 너는 왕궁에 있으니 모든 유다인 중에 홀로 목숨을 건지리라 생각하지 말라 이 때에 네가 만일 잠잠하여 말이 없으면 유다인은 다른 데로 말미암아 놓임과 구원을 얻으려니와 너와 네 아버지 집은 멸망하리라 네가 왕후의 자리를 얻은 것이 이 때를 위함이 아닌지 누가 알겠느냐 하니”  에 4:12-14
 
들어가는 말: 우리는 상황에 이끌리는 삶을 살 때가 많습니다.
 
“왕의 조서와 명령이 반포되매 처녀들이 도성 수산에 많이 모여 헤개의 수하에 나아갈 때에 에스더도 왕궁으로 이끌려 가서 궁녀를 주관하는 헤개의 수하에 속하니”  에 2:8
 
“… 에스더가 차례대로 왕에게 나아갈 때에 궁녀를 주관하는 내시 헤개가 정한 것 외에는 다른 것을 구하지 아니하였으나 모든 보는 자에게 사랑을 받더라 아하수에로 왕의 제칠년 시월 곧 데벳월에 에스더가 왕궁에 인도되어 들어가서 왕 앞에 나가니”  에 2:15b-16
 
“이 때에 네가 만일 잠잠하여 말이 없으면 유다인은 다른 데로 말미암아 놓임과 구원을 얻으려니와 너와 네 아버지 집은 멸망하리라 네가 왕후의 자리를 얻은 것이 이 때를 위함이 아닌지 누가 알겠느냐 하니”  에 4:12-14
 
1. 결정적인 순간은 우리의 정체성을 확인시켜 줍니다.
 
“그의 삼촌의 딸 하닷사 곧 에스더는 부모가 없었으나…”  에 2:7a
 
“너희는 애굽에서 나오는 길에 아말렉이 네게 행한 일을 기억하라 곧 그들이 너를 길에서 만나 네가 피곤할 때에 네 뒤에 떨어진 약한 자들을 쳤고 하나님을 두려워하지 아니하였느니라”  신 25:17-18
 
“모르드개가 가서 에스더가 명령한 대로 다 행하니라”  에 4:17
 
“제삼일에 에스더가 왕후의 예복을 입고 왕궁 안 뜰 곧 어전 맞은편에 서니 왕이 어전에서 전 문을 대하여 왕좌에 앉았다가”  에 5:1
 
“그러므로 우리가 담대히 말하되 주는 나를 돕는 이시니 내가 무서워하지 아니하겠노라 사람이 내게 어찌하리요 하노라”  히 13:6
 
“여호와는 나의 목자시니 내게 부족함이 없으리로다 그가 나를 푸른 풀밭에 누이시며 쉴 만한 물 가로 인도하시는도다 내 영혼을 소생시키시고 자기 이름을 위하여 의의 길로 인도하시는도다 내가 사망의 음침한 골짜기로 다닐지라도 해를 두려워하지 않을 것은 주께서 나와 함께 하심이라 주의 지팡이와 막대기가 나를 안위하시나이다”  시 23:1-4
 
2. 결정적인 순간은 내가 혼자가 아님을 인지시켜 줍니다.
 
“당신은 가서 수산에 있는 유다인을 다 모으고 나를 위하여 금식하되 밤낮 삼 일을 먹지도 말고 마시지도 마소서 나도 나의 시녀와 더불어 이렇게 금식한 후에 규례를 어기고 왕에게 나아 가리니 죽으면 죽으리이다 하니라”  에 4:16
 
“왕후 에스더가 대답하여 이르되 왕이여 내가 만일 왕의 목전에서 은혜를 입었으며 왕이 좋게 여기시면 내 소청대로 내 생명을 내게 주시고 내 요구대로 내 민족을 내게 주소서”  에 7:3
 
“만일 한 지체가 고통을 받으면 모든 지체가 함께 고통을 받고 한 지체가 영광을 얻으면 모든 지체가 함께 즐거워하느니라 너희는 그리스도의 몸이요 지체의 각 부분이라”  고전 12:26-27
 
3. 결정적인 순간은 우리의 매일의 순간입니다.
 
“그러므로 나의 사랑하는 자들아 너희가 나 있을 때뿐 아니라 더욱 지금 나 없을 때에도 항상 복종하여 두렵고 떨림으로 너희 구원을 이루라”  빌 2:12
 
“누구든지 제 목숨을 구원하고자 하면 잃을 것이요 누구든지 나를 위하여 제 목숨을 잃으면 찾으리라”  마 16:25
 
“이 달 이 날에 유다인들이 대적에게서 벗어나서 평안함을 얻어 슬픔이 변하여 기쁨이 되고 애통이 변하여 길한 날이 되었으니 이 두 날을 지켜 잔치를 베풀고 즐기며 서로 예물을 주며 가난한 자를 구제하라 하매” 에 9:22

Defining Moment
 
“When Esther’s words were reported to Mordecai, he sent back this answer: “Do not think that because you are in the king’s house you alone of all the Jews will escape. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?””  Esther 4:12-14
 
Opening Remark: Our lives are often led by the circumstances.
 
“When the king’s order and edict had been proclaimed, many young women were brought to the citadel of Susa and put under the care of Hegai. Esther also was taken to the king’s palace and entrusted to Hegai, who had charge of the harem.”  Esther 2:8
 
“When the turn came for Esther (the young woman Mordecai had adopted, the daughter of his uncle Abihail) to go to the king, she asked for nothing other than what Hegai, the king’s eunuch who was in charge of the harem, suggested. And Esther won the favor of everyone who saw her. 16 She was taken to King Xerxes in the royal residence in the tenth month, the month of Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.”  Esther 2:15-16

“Mordecai had a cousin named Hadassah, whom he had brought up because she had neither father nor mother. This young woman, who was also known as Esther…”  Esther 2:7a
 
“Remember what the Amalekites did to you along the way when you came out of Egypt. 18 When you were weary and worn out, they met you on your journey and attacked all who were lagging behind; they had no fear of God.”  Deuteronomy 25:17-18
 
“So Mordecai went away and carried out all of Esther’s instructions.”  Esther 4:17
 
“On the third day Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the palace, in front of the king’s hall. The king was sitting on his royal throne in the hall, facing the entrance.”  Esther 5:1
 
“So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” ”  Hebrews 13:6
 
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. 2. Defining moment reminds us that we are not alone.
 
“Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”  Esther 4:16
 
“Then Queen Esther answered, “If I have found favor with you, Your Majesty, and if it pleases you, grant me my life—this is my petition. And spare my people—this is my request.”  Esther 7:3
 
“If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”  1 Corinthians 12:26-27
 
3. Defining moment is our daily moment.
 
“Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,”  Philippians 2:12
 
“For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.”  Matthew 16:25
 
“As the time when the Jews got relief from their enemies, and as the month when their sorrow was turned into joy and their mourning into a day of celebration. He wrote them to observe the days as days of feasting and joy and giving presents of food to one another and gifts to the poor.”  Esther 9:22
